GreenSPAS

The EU aims to be climate-neutral by 2050, an economy with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. This objective is at the heart of the European Green Deal and in line with the EU’s commitment to global climate action under the Paris Agreement.
All parts of society and economic sectors will play a role, including thermal spa cities and regions of Europe.

GreenSPAS objective is to improve policies aiming at supporting a greener and more resilient model of thermal spa cities and regions facing climate change in Europe.

The GreenSPAS project partners are: one association, three thermal spa cities, one intercommunal community, one region, one innovation centre and one European association from seven countries (FR, BE, IT, PT, PO, AT, LT) and one associated policy authority. They have in common their specificities of thermal spa cities and regions.
Relevant stakeholders within each area will be strongly involved in the exchange of experience at interregional level and planned adaptation of policy instruments.

Approach
3 steps in core phase: Interregional exchange of experiences in that field and subsequent introduction into their targeted policy instrument of greener and more resilient model of thermal spa cities and regions.

Main activities and outputs
6 policy instruments are addressed including 3 related to structural funds programmes. Basis for exchange of experience: Reciprocal improvement analysis, 6 study visits, 3 online interregional thematic workshops and 2 seminars on policies improvement. 7 newsletters, 1 leaflet, 2 videos and 1 final dissemination event for an effective dissemination towards other territories in Europe.

Main expected results
At least 12 good practices identified, 6 targeted policy instruments improved, 16 staff members will transfer new capacities in their intervention fields, 59 involved
stakeholders with increased skills and knowledge from exchange of experience. Expected 20 articles in press including at EU level.
