On 23 May 2024, the Policy Learning Platform organised an onsite matchmaking on the strategy for the development of a circular construction industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Objective of the matchmaking

The matchmaking was requested by the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Ministry is working on updating their current Strategy for the development of the construction materials industry (2016-2025). The decision for a new construction materials strategy for 2026-2035 has been prepared and is currently under approval. One of the strategic goals of the new strategy is to further develop the industry based on the principles of sustainable growth including the rational utilisation of energy and local resources whilst protecting the environment.

The Ministry has defined the following challenges:
  • How can circular economy be included in this strategy?

  • Do other countries specify estimated cost for planned activities in the action plan?

  • How does the process and timeline of creating such strategies ?

  • What specific elements are key to ensure the effectiveness and success of our strategy?
